How this valuation is worked out
Wineries and breweries are priced on earnings where earnings are real, and on the sum of the parts where they are thin — land and vineyard, production equipment, inventory in barrel or tank, brand and licenses. Tasting room and club sales carry the highest margin, so a producer that sells direct is worth considerably more than one leaning on distribution.
A worked example
A winery with $1.9M of sales, 60% direct through the tasting room and club, and $260K of EBITDA. At 7× that is roughly $1.8M for the operation — then the vineyard land, tanks, barrels and inventory are added on their own lines.
Multiple ranges reviewed September 2026, based on offers buyers in our network are making today. They are a guide, not a quote — see how the process works.
What moves your number
- Share of sales going direct through the tasting room or club
- Club membership or taproom traffic that repeats
- Production capacity and how much of it is actually used
- Inventory in barrel, tank or package, and how old it is
- Land, vineyard acreage or brewhouse equipment, and license transferability

Common questions
Why value the parts separately?
Reported earnings are often thin while the assets are substantial. Adding up land, equipment, inventory and brand usually gives a fairer picture.
Is inventory added on top?
Usually yes, at cost, with aged or slow-moving stock discounted.
Do the licenses transfer?
Federal and state approvals normally need a fresh filing by the buyer. Plan the timeline for it — it can add months to a closing.
