How this valuation is worked out

This is a market appraisal, not a certified one. We take the figure your industry is priced on — profit, revenue, commission or assets under management — apply the current multiple range for your category, and adjust for retention, recurring revenue, trading history and how involved you are day to day. It answers the question most owners actually have: what would someone pay?

A worked example

A services business with $300K of SDE and mostly repeat customers. At 2–4× SDE that is a $600K–$1.2M market range — the number a certified appraisal would then document formally if a court, the IRS or a lender ever required it.

Multiple ranges reviewed September 2026, based on offers buyers in our network are making today. They are a guide, not a quote — see how the process works.

What moves your number

  • Provable, consistent earnings across the last three years
  • Recurring or contracted revenue a buyer can bank on
  • A business that runs without the owner in it every day
  • Clean books — messy records cost real money in diligence

Common questions

Is this the same as a certified appraisal?

No. A certified appraisal is a formal report prepared by an accredited appraiser (ASA, ABV or CVA) for legal, tax or lender use. This gives you the market range a buyer would pay — the right starting point when you are thinking about selling.

When do I need a formal appraisal?

Divorce or shareholder disputes, IRS or estate filings, ESOPs, and some SBA or lender processes require a certified report. Planning a sale usually does not.

What happens after I see my range?

Nothing, unless you ask. If you want real offers, you can share your details and we take a summary to buyers active in your category.
