How this valuation is worked out
Carriers trade at roughly 3 to 5.5 times EBITDA, with equipment value setting a floor under the price. Contracted freight is worth much more than spot market work, which buyers treat as unreliable.
A worked example
$4M of revenue with $600K of EBITDA and 18 owned tractors. At 3–4.5× EBITDA that is $1.8M–$2.7M, plus or minus equipment value and debt; dedicated contract freight prices well above spot-market exposure.
Multiple ranges reviewed September 2026, based on offers buyers in our network are making today. They are a guide, not a quote — see how the process works.
What moves your number
- Contracted lanes versus spot market freight
- Fleet age and remaining life on the tractors
- Driver retention and how many seats are empty
- Safety rating and insurance loss history

Common questions
Does my equipment count separately?
It sets a floor. If the earnings multiple lands below the fleet's resale value, the fleet value wins.
Do my authority and contracts transfer?
Contracts generally need customer consent, and buyers check the largest accounts before committing.
Does a poor safety score hurt?
Significantly. It raises the buyer's insurance cost and can reduce the price or kill the deal.
