How this valuation is worked out

Tree service companies are priced on seller's discretionary earnings, with the fleet valued inside that price rather than on top. Recurring municipal, utility or HOA contracts and a stable crew lift the multiple; storm-driven one-off work and a heavy owner sales role pull it down.

A worked example

A tree care company with $1.9M of revenue and $340K of SDE, two climbing crews, a five-year-old bucket truck and about a quarter of revenue from municipal and HOA contracts. At 3.5× that is roughly $1.19M, with equipment debt paid off at closing.

Multiple ranges reviewed September 2026, based on offers buyers in our network are making today. They are a guide, not a quote — see how the process works.

Common questions

Is my equipment added on top of the price?

Usually not. Working trucks and chippers are assumed to come with the business, so the condition of the fleet moves the multiple rather than adding a separate line.

Does storm work count?

Buyers discount it. A big storm year inflates earnings, so they look at a normal year and treat storm revenue as upside.

Does snow removal help the value?

Yes, when it is contracted. Seasonal contracts that cover winter overhead make cash flow steadier, which buyers pay for.
