How this valuation is worked out
Practices are priced on EBITDA after a market-rate physician salary is deducted, typically 4 to 7.5 times. Ancillary revenue such as imaging or in-office procedures raises the multiple; a practice that is one physician and nothing else raises very little.
A worked example
$2M of collections with $500K of profit after paying the owner-physician a market salary. At 4–6× that is $2.0M–$3.0M; a payer mix weighted to commercial insurance and an established referral base price above Medicaid-heavy practices.

Common questions
Why is my salary deducted?
Because a buyer must pay someone to do the clinical work. Value comes from profit above that cost.
Who buys medical practices?
Hospital systems, physician groups, private equity platforms and individual physicians, each pricing differently.
Does my EMR matter?
Only for transition cost. It rarely moves the headline number.
