How this valuation is worked out

Liquor stores are priced at roughly 2 to 4 times seller's discretionary earnings, with stock counted at cost and added at closing. Licence transferability, lease term and your beer, wine and spirits mix decide where in the range you land.

A worked example

A store with $1.4M of revenue and $195K of SDE, eight years left on the lease and a wine and spirits led mix. At 3–3.5× that is $585K–$683K, plus roughly $110K of inventory at cost.

Multiple ranges reviewed September 2026, based on offers buyers in our network are making today. They are a guide, not a quote — see how the process works.

What moves your number

  • Whether your state licence transfers easily, or is capped under a quota system
  • Remaining lease term and renewal options
  • Margin mix — wine and spirits carry more margin than beer
  • Point-of-sale records that let a buyer verify sales

Common questions

Is inventory included in the price?

Usually not. It is counted at cost close to closing and paid for separately from the business multiple.

How much does the licence matter?

A lot in quota states, where licences are scarce and can carry real value of their own.

What multiple should I expect?

Most stores sell for roughly 2 to 4 times SDE, plus inventory.
