How this valuation is worked out
HVAC companies are priced on EBITDA, typically 3.5 to 7 times, and higher for larger companies with strong service agreement bases. Replacement-heavy revenue prices lower than a maintenance contract book that renews every year.
A worked example
$2.4M of revenue with $340K of EBITDA and 600 maintenance-plan customers. At 4.5–6× EBITDA that is $1.5M–$2.0M; the service agreements and a working general manager are what move it above the 3.5× floor.

Common questions
What multiple is realistic for my size?
Under $1M EBITDA, expect 3.5 to 5 times. Above $2M, private equity buyers regularly pay 6 to 7 times.
Do service agreements really matter?
Yes — more than anything else. A large recurring agreement base can add a full turn to the multiple.
Will I have to stay on?
Usually for six to twenty-four months, often with part of the price tied to that period.
