How this valuation is worked out

Brokerages are valued on net revenue — gross margin after carrier costs — and then on adjusted earnings, commonly 3.5 to 5.5 times. Gross freight volume is not the measure buyers use.

A worked example

A brokerage moving $24M of freight at a 14% margin, so $3.4M of net revenue, with $700K of adjusted earnings and no customer above 12%. At 4.5× that is roughly $3.2M. Half that revenue in one shipper and part of the price would be held back.

Multiple ranges reviewed September 2026, based on offers buyers in our network are making today. They are a guide, not a quote — see how the process works.

Common questions

Do buyers use gross revenue?

No. They work from net revenue after carrier costs, then from earnings.

How much concentration is acceptable?

Above roughly 20% of net revenue with one shipper, expect earnouts or holdbacks rather than a straight price.

How are couriers valued differently?

Contracted, scheduled routes make courier work behave like a route business, which buyers reward.
