How this valuation is worked out

Venues are priced on earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, typically around 3 to 5 times, with owned property appraised separately on top. The forward booking calendar is what supports the top of the range.

A worked example

A barn venue hosting 64 events a year, $1.15M of revenue across rental, bar and catering, and $290K of earnings after paying a venue manager. At 4× that is roughly $1.16M for the operation, with the land and building appraised separately on top.

Multiple ranges reviewed September 2026, based on offers buyers in our network are making today. They are a guide, not a quote — see how the process works.

What moves your number

  • Contracted events for the next twelve to eighteen months
  • Bar, catering and vendor income as a share of revenue
  • Reviews and whether the reputation belongs to the venue or the owner
  • A venue manager who can sell and run events without the owner

Common questions

Is the property included?

It is normally appraised separately and added. For many venues the land and building are the larger part of the total.

What happens to deposits already taken?

They are usually credited to the buyer at closing, since the buyer has to deliver those events.

How are catering companies valued?

Same earnings basis, generally a slightly lower multiple, with contracted corporate accounts lifting the number.
